About us

Books that matter, made with care.

We're a small, independent press that believes good books still change people — and that authors deserve a partner who treats their work like it matters.

Who we are

An independent house in Cambridge.

Fountain & Key Press was founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts on a simple idea: that the gap between a finished manuscript and a published book shouldn't swallow good writing whole. We publish across fiction and non-fiction, choosing titles for craft and conviction rather than category.

From editorial through design, production, and distribution, we keep the whole process under one roof — and we keep authors in control of their rights and their voice.

What we stand for

Our principles

Editorial integrity

Every title earns its place. Real editors read the work and tell the truth about it — kindly, and in detail.

Author-first terms

Per-title agreements, transparent terms, no long contracts. You retain full rights to your work, always.

Craft & design

Beautiful covers and considered typesetting. A book should feel as good in the hand as it reads on the page.
